Extended Insurance & Direct Billing

Many of our clients have extended insurance benefits that they want to use for their sessions! Allura Sex Therapy Centre is not able to direct bill for sessions at this time due to the regulations around counselling and private health benefits – you will be required to pay for your session upfront and seek reimbursement through your benefits provider! A receipt will be provided that includes all the necessary information for reimbursement, including your counsellor’s credentials.

We strongly encourage that you confirm with the HR department at your work or directly with your health benefits provider that you have coverage with the credentials of your counsellor; most of our counsellors are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC), Registered Social Worker (RSW), or Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW).

We are only able to direct bill the following government agencies: CVAP, Work BC, Worksafe BC, and FNHA.

Here are a few tips for having the best experience with virtual therapy!

  • Ensure you have a private space – close your bedroom door and let others in your household know that you are busy for the next hour to hour and a half

  • Use headphones – this will create the clearest sound but also help you feel more at ease and keep the session feeling private

  • Laptops are better – while you can take your session from your phone or tablet, we recommend using a laptop or computer for your sessions if you have one so you don’t have to hold your phone or tablet up the entire time!

  • Get comfy – what would you likely have around you if you came in person for sessions? Grab a comfy pillow, blanket, some tea, coffee, or water and find yourself a comfortable place to sit.

  • Your Internet matters – the strength of your internet connection can greatly impact your virtual session experience! Try to use a private network and, if at all possible, use a device that’s wired to the modem. Other suggestions are to close out other tabs or applications on your device as the more things that are running, the slower the connection will be.
