From my perspective, therapy is like seeking a second opinion from someone who isn’t in your life, who is compassionate and non-judgmental, who is professionally trained to be ethically confidential, and who happens to have knowledge or experience working with individual struggling similar situations as yours, who can share insights and find some potential way outs with you.
I am a newcomer that live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and occupied lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples, now known colonially as Vancouver. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse population in BC, Hong Kong, and Singapore as a registered social worker/therapist/clinician
My areas of specialization include relationship counselling, intimate partner violence, mental health/chronic illness (i.e. organ failure and transplant) and their caregivers, and medical assistance in dying. My approach is rooted in person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed perspectives. I draw from various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and attachment-informed techniques.
I am currently pursuing a postgraduate programme in Couples & Family Therapy at the University of Calgary, with a strong commitment to becoming a marriage and family therapist in the future. This additional training equips me with the advanced skills and knowledge to support couples and families in navigating relational dynamics and fostering more fulfilling relationships.
I have completed training in sex therapy, with a particular focus on addressing sexual dysfunctions in men and individuals assigned male at birth. This training allows me to offer informed and sensitive therapeutic interventions for those experiencing challenges in their sexual health and intimacy.
As a mental health clinician, I advocate for a positive and healthy relationship with food, challenging diet culture. I also specialize in addressing body image concerns and perfectionism, empowering individuals to embrace self-compassion and well-being.
I believe in tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual. With my social work background, I apply a psychosocial perspective to address the multifaceted aspects of people's lives. This entails recognizing the interconnectedness of various systems, including family dynamics, culture, ancestry, and societal structures. In collaboration with my service users, I navigate these systems and empower them to challenge barriers.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, exploring the city, practicing yoga, and tasting different cuisines.
